Eligible students can now apply for Pell Grants & Loans through federal student aid. The first step in applying for federal grants and loans is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form at:

Approved Funding for Low-Income/Laid Off Adults or Eligible Veterans

If you are a low income adult, laid off from a job, or an eligible veteran, you may be eligible for grant money up to $6000 to attend PWA. This is money you do not have to pay back. If you want to be a student at the best welding school in Texas, this may be a way to become a student at little cost to you. Call us to schedule a tour and receive more information!

Veterans Benefits

 
 

Eligibility

In order to receive Veterans Affairs (VA) educational benefits, you must be admitted to or enrolled in a program leading to a degree or certificate awarded by Precision Welding Academy.

To receive maximum educational benefit payments under the Veterans’ Readjustment Benefits Act of 1966, undergraduate, graduate, and professional students are required to be registered and actively attending as full-time students. For VA purposes, full-time status is defined as actively attending at least 12 concurrent hours during fall or spring or 6 concurrent hours during summer.

You must submit a Veterans Enrollment Certification Request Form for each term you request payment of VA educational benefits. You’re encouraged to submit the form after you’ve finalized your enrollment each term. Post-9/11 GI Bill® students should also submit a copy of their Certificate of Eligibility received each term.

How to Apply

How you apply for veterans benefits depends on whether you’re a new or continuing student and if you’ve used benefits elsewhere. Make sure to forward all completed forms to our office (by email attachment, mail, fax, or in person).

First-Time Use of Benefits (New Students)

If you wish to receive VA educational benefits while enrolled at Precision Welding Academy, you must:

  1. Apply for benefits by completing the Application for VA Education Benefits form for Chapter 30, 32, 33, 35, 1606 or 1607.

  2. Register for the term of enrollment before requesting to be certified for payment of benefits.

  3. Complete a Veterans Enrollment Certification Request for each term you request payment of your VA educational benefits.

  4. Provide a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility confirming the benefit you qualify to receive.

Previous Use of Benefits (New Students)

If you’ve received VA educational benefits at another school and wish to continue receiving payment while enrolled at Precision Welding Academy, you must:

  1. Complete a Request for Change of Place of Training or Program form for Chapter 30, 32, 33, 1606 or 1607.

  2. Complete a Dependents’ Request for Change of Program or Place of Training form for Chapter 35 dependents or Chapter 33 Transfer of Eligibility recipients.

  3. Register for the term of enrollment before requesting to be certified for payment of benefits.

  4. Complete a Veterans Enrollment Certification Request for each term you request payment of your VA educational benefits.

Continued Use of Benefits (Continuing Students)

If you wish to continue to receive VA educational benefits while enrolled at Precision Welding Academy, you must:

  1. Register for the term of enrollment before requesting to be certified for payment of benefits.

  2. Complete a Veterans Enrollment Certification Request for each term you request payment of your VA educational benefits.

Verification of Enrollment for Monthly Payments

All students who are receiving either the Active Duty or Selected Reserve Montgomery GI Bill® or the Post 9/11 GI Bill®, must verify their enrollments monthly to receive payments.

To verify your enrollment, call 877-823-2378 or visit Web Automated Verification of Enrollment (WAVE). When you initially log in to WAVE, use your Social Security Number as the File Number and use the last numbers of your Social Security Number as a temporary Password/PIN.

Complete these self-certifications each month in order to receive payment of educational benefits.

pWA OFFERS IN-HOUSE Flexible payment plans & Other loan options

We realize it can be challenging to pay for school. We have a variety of plans available to meet nearly every need. With some money down, Precision Welding Academy will set up a monthly payment schedule with zero percent interest rate. Paying while students attend school means debt after graduation is greatly reduced.

Scholarships

 
 

Precision Welding Academy Scholarships

Precision Welding Academy awards scholarships to welding competition winners at various times during the school year. Competitions may also take place at Precision Welding Academy. Scholarships do not include books and supplies and must be used within a year of the high school graduation year. If a student wins more than one scholarship, only the highest dollar value tuition scholarship will be honored. No more than one scholarship may be used for the same graduate.

 
 

Welder Training Scholarship (Houston - District 18)

Purpose
The AWS Welder Training Scholarship is for students seeking welder training in a program up to two years through a trade school, community college, or other facility providing welder training, and cannot be used for credits towards a four-year program. Each AWS District has 25-$1,000 scholarships. Five scholarships will be designated for high schools senior for training following graduation.

 
 
 

DISTRICT SCHOLARSHIPS

Purpose
The purpose of the District Scholarship program is to promote welding education on a district level.

Eligibility Overview

 
 
  • Most importantly, you must be enrolled in a welding-related educational or training program.

  • You must be a high school graduate or possess a GED equivalent.

  • You must reside in and attend school within the boundaries of an AWS District, which includes the Continental United States and portions of Canada and Mexico.

  • You must complete the scholarship application and provide any additional documentation as required by the application’s instructions.

  • Some District Scholarships require you to be an AWS member while others do not. To apply for an AWS Student Membership, please visit the Student Membership page.
